Hi! I’m Julia, a London-based editor, writer, and colour nerd. I’m fascinated by the interplay between people and colour, and find fulfilment in helping people identify the colours that work with, rather than against, their features.
Since I began my colour analysis exploration, I have had 7 different “seasonal” analyses, including with some of the biggest brands in the business. Each time, I got a different result — and I know I’m not alone in this.
I did colour analysis training in two different seasonal systems, but these trainings only raised more questions. Why would every person, with their unique combination of features, fit into one of 4, or 12, categories? No consultant had a satisfactory answer.
So, I developed my own method that does not shoehorn people into any pre-set category. The palette you receive is completely tailored to you. My aim is to empower you and make the colours you wear a source of joy.
The Colour Analysis Session
Draping
For the majority of the session, I will be draping you with a seemingly endless parade of colours, and we will analyse their effect. It’s fun, I promise!
We’ll be looking for the colours that harmonise with your features, make you look healthiest, and feel most confident. I’ll show you how to recognise the effect certain colour characteristics (e.g. temperature, value, intensity) have on you.
Over the course of the session, we’ll notice patterns emerging, and by the end, we’ll have a thorough understanding of what colours work for you (and those that don’t, and those that are just OK), and why.
Colour Fan
Once we’ve finished draping, I will gather your best colours from each category (reds, blues, neutrals, etc.) and assemble them into a bespoke colour fan. Your fan will become your indispensable shopping companion!
Clothes, accessories, makeup (if you use it)
After assembling your personal colour fan, we’ll practice using it! I encourage you to bring 5-6 items of clothing with you, as well as a selection of makeup and jewellery, so that I can show you how to recognise colours that fit with your palette. I’ll also recommend specific makeup products in shades that will suit you.
